Marjorie Pomper, Ph.D., CIG, ANFT member
I lead outdoor programs in "forest bathing" (translated from the Japanese term "shinrin-yoku") to promote the healing effects of nature coupled with mindful presence, gratitude and joy-promoting practices.
As an avid lover of the outdoors, I am trained as a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) with the National Association of Interpretation, a Georgia Master Naturalist, and a Docent at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. As a member of the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs, I have immersed myself in the practices of forest bathing. I have been leading forest bathing programs in partnership with groups such as the Cancer Support Network, the Chattahoochee Nature Center, True Center, Namestoy Farm, Elderberry Village, Potluck Farm and Duke Forest.
I hold a Ph.D. in Education, Masters work in Counseling, and a B.S. in Dance Education all from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With my background in improvisational and creative movement, I enjoy bringing body awareness, relaxation and simple movement for Every Body into my programs. The Center for Healthy Minds from my old alma mater, the University of Wisconsin, also provides research and practices I incorporate into my programs.
I have been practicing meditation since 1975 and can offer guidance in meditation practice.
